Far in the northern mountains of Chiang Rai, sits one of the unknown gems of Thailand – Mae Mon. Not too far from the more famous Doi Chang, you can find Mae Mon and its beautiful deep green views. Populated by the Akha people, the locals live and breathe coffee. If you are a fan of single-origin Arabica, with welcoming hosts and a beautiful sunrise, then Mae Mon is the place for you!
Boutique, family-run homestays are sprouting up and inviting tourists like me and you to take a glimpse into their livelihoods. During the coffee harvest (Nov-Feb) I stayed at the Hak Khao Farm Stay (ฮักเขา ฟาร์ม สเตย์) and was immediately a believer.
Check out the video to see what it’s like.
