Bali is often one of the major stops on the Southeast Asia backpacker circuit.
It offers a nice balance of learning about local culture while having access Western comforts along with beautiful sites to see. Bali is super popular with foreigners as evidenced by the number of us outsiders who come to visit and those who stay for extended periods of time.
