Tak

Tak province is in the lower part of northern Thailand and not known to be a tourist destination. Sharing a border to the west with Myanmar, Tak is a melting pot of ethnic groups, nationalities, languages, cultures, and ideologies.

The border town of Mae Sot, is a dynamic area of constant political, social, and economic contention and is experiencing rapid growth. It has some of the most interesting markets and a great variety of flavors and food given its small population.

Tak also has excellent national parks full of forests and large wildlife and is also home to one of Thailand’s most famous waterfalls, Thi Lo Su.

In the short time I lived in Tak, it was a humbling but fulfilling experience. When you go there, just keep in mind that a lot of folks have struggled hard to climb and some are still finding their way out of tough situations.
