I find myself in Isaan every once in a while. For those of you who are not familiar, Isaan is the northeastern region of Thailand. Yes, it is less developed than much of Thailand and it is the home to the rice fields that stretch beyond the horizon. The provinces in Isaan are not the places where foreigners jump to book their flight tickets, but many expats establish their quaint, rural paradises all across Isaan.
Every time I go, I meet some really genuine down-to-earth people who have a lot of pride in where they come from. In the video below, I visit two provinces, Ubon Ratchathani and Srisaket. In Ubon, I was lucky to stumble upon a local fair and the good times followed.
