Phetchabun

Phetchabun is where city-dwellers come for a mountainous escape. It is about a 5-hour drive from Bangkok, and it’s a popular place for camping. There’s also boutique hotels and B&B resorts dispersed across the hillsides, where you can wake up to green valleys and lazy fog.

Tamarind is beloved in Phetchabun,
and throughout Thailand as it is used
to make essential sauces in Thai
cooking.

Phetchabun is famous for its sweet tamarind and cool climate produce like peaches and cabbage. When you go to Phetchabun, you have to buy several kilograms of tamarind – some for your neighbors, co-worker, friends, and some extra to snack on during your ride back home.

Some of the main attractions in Phetchabun include the mountain – Khao Kho, and the 5 buddha temple, Wat Phra Son Kaew.
